  • Descrizione: It is Christmas Eve and Martha, Eleni's grandaughter, is sent out to beg in the streets, is hit by a car and seriously injured. Martha’s grandmother, Eleni, is Mrs. Olga’s maid from Southern Epirus. Greatly angered, the elderly Olga, who has recently lost her husband and lives alone far away from the family of her son, Fotis, fires Helen. That same night, while she is dreaming that Martha is her own child, the child’s father, Giorgis, and his friend Milkos break into her home and rob her. The following day, the elderly woman visits Eleni and, seeing Giorgis, realizes that he was one of the burglars, but she keeps this fact to herself. Later, Helen pays her a visit and returns the stolen goods, and asks that they all be forgiven. She asks Olga to keep Martha with her. Olga accepts, taking the little one with her to the shops trying to make her feel comfortable. She doesn’t trust her father, and she takes her to her son’s house for Christmas dinner.
